during my one minute break yesterday afternoon, i checked my email to find that my JET placement had finally arrived. the basics. . .
We are pleased to inform you of your long-awaited placement on the JET Program:
Prefecture: Kochi-ken
Contracting Organization: Kahoku-cho
i talked to some of my kids from japan. . . they seemed to know very little about kochi-ken in general ('it is a good place' 'they are famous for their noodles' etc.). . . a former JET ALT and i were searching for info on the internet and discovered that the town has approx 5,520 people and is famous for the anpanman museum. . . however, i have yet to find kahoku-cho on a map. so. . . rural japan, here i come!
until my departure for tokyo on august 16th and settling into kahoku-cho on august 19th, i am at the english language village in moorhead, minnesota teaching kids (age 9-18) from around the world! four or five previous JET ALTs are working at elv with me now and are giving me all kinds of tips and warnings and helping with research. . .
guess that is all i ihave time for now! i will try to post little tidbits of info as they come!
